TEPP – FS – Further Studies Mathematics

Advance Academic Modules - Further Studies Mathematics

This module equips learners with essential advanced Mathematical skills and knowledge to analyse, interpret, and solve complex problems. Through a structured curriculum, students will explore core Mathematical concepts—from algebra and geometry to calculus and statistics—emphasizing real-world applications and enhancing university readiness. Students will develop problem-solving and analytical skills that are crucial for understanding quantitative data and reasoning logically. This solid Mathematical foundation opens the road to advanced studies in fields such asEngineering, Economics, Data Science, and Actuarial Science, preparing students for a wide range of professional opportunities in academia, technology, and finance.

Programme Structure

Semester 1:

Gateway to Higher Learning

A 21-week program introducing Further Studies (FS) modules focused on higher-order thinking, problem-solving, and knowledge application. It fosters academic discipline, study techniques, and digital literacy, while also promoting resilience and coping strategies for university life. The curriculum includes Further Studies Mathematics, Further Studies Science, and the KYB Advanced Reading Programme, with internal and IEB examinations. Support structures include mentorship, peer study groups, and academic and wellness support, providing tutoring, mental health counselling, and academic advisory services for personal and academic growth.
Integrates various components such as classroom sessions, introductory safety workshops, and foundational theoretical modules to establish a strong educational base. As students progress, they engage in advanced practical workshops, collaborative group projects, and individual assignments designed to enhance their expertise and deepen their understanding. The initial months focuses on core trade principles, basic concepts, and essential safety practices, whereafter students advance to developing in-depth technical skills, mastering problem-solving strategies, and applying theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios.

Semester 2:

Preparing for Tertiary Excellence

A 20-week program designed to deepen knowledge in Advanced Programme modules and enhance advanced digital and technological skills. The focus is on improving reading proficiency to university standards. Courses include Further Studies Mathematics, Further Studies Science, and the KYB Advanced Reading Programme, with students sitting for IEB examinations. Support structures such as mentorship, peer study groups, and academic and wellness support provide academic advice, emotional support, tutoring, and mental health counseling to ensure students' overall development and success.

Outcome: Graduates of the programme will be well-prepared to enter tertiary institutions both local and internationally as competent students in their chosen fields of study. They will possess a strong foundation in academic knowledge and problem-solving abilities, meeting the rigorous requirements of further education and training. This structured approach ensures recognition is given to students experiences in these areas which include digital literacy, active citizenry, career exploration, work readiness.
