Short Courses

The Short Courses are structured to develop skilled learners with a deep understanding of both theoretical concepts and practical applications within a specialized focus-area for a successful career in the Industry. The Short Courses are foundational to career development and are aligned with the applicable learning framework, and follows the guidelines set by the outcomes form the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) or registered council.

Outcome: Graduates of the programme will be well-prepared to enter the workforce as competent professionals in their respective industries. They will possess a strong foundation in advanced skills, practical experience, and problem-solving abilities, meeting the rigorous demands of their careers. This structured approach ensures that students receive a comprehensive education, balancing theoretical knowledge with practical skills, and preparing them for successful career growth opportunities.

Duration:  The duration of the course will depend on  specific course offered. This duration includes a blend of classroom theoretical learning and/or group assignments, online self-study, and ending with a Final Summative Assessment or a Department of Higher Education and Training Examination.

Overview Summary:
  • This qualification equips learners to excel as skilled professionals across various industries, including residential architecture, commercial construction or manufacturing quantity surveying, and industrial engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, etc.). Through comprehensive training, students will acquire the expertise needed to interpret and create technical drawings, mastering both freehand and computer-aided design (CAD) techniques. Concepts such as Building, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical and Structural Steel Detailing will be covered. This includes performing a range of tasks to solve complex problems through visual representation and graphical communication.
