GRADS – SDW – Applied Skills Workshops

Skills Development Workshops - Applied Skills Workshops

Programme Structure

Outcome:

The GRADS Applied Skills Workshops are designed to equip graduates with the practical knowledge, professional competencies and personal capabilities required to successfully transition from an academic environment into the workplace and broader responsibilities of life after their studies. The workshops aim to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and the realities of the professional world by providing graduates with relevant, practical and workplace-focused skills that can be applied across a variety of career environments.

Through a combination of practical activities, guided discussions, real-world scenarios and professional development sessions, participants will develop a greater understanding of workplace expectations, professional conduct, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, accountability and adaptability. In addition to preparing graduates for employment, the workshops seek to build confidence, independence and resilience, enabling participants to approach new opportunities and challenges with greater maturity and self-awareness. Graduates will be encouraged to take ownership of their personal and professional development, understand the importance of continuous learning, and develop the ability to make informed decisions regarding their careers, finances, relationships and future aspirations.

Ultimately, the outcome of the GRADS Applied Skills Workshops is to produce well-rounded, confident and work-ready graduates who are not only academically or technically competent, but who also possess the practical skills, professional mindset and personal responsibility required to contribute meaningfully in the workplace, navigate life beyond their studies, and pursue sustainable long-term personal and career success.
