KITSO YA BOLENG HISTORY
Addressing the challenges faced by our Youth from underprivilege communities in South Africa to access quality educational institutions, break the cycle of dependencies and further their career goals, a seed was planted in 2016 by the founding sponsors, the Assore Group and the Boleng Trust in a small town Ottosdal, North West. A new educational home, comprising of lecture rooms, computer lab, canteen and hostels for both gents and ladies.
The dream became a reality.
BEGINNINGof TEPP
In efforts to bridge the gap between Grade 12 and university, we opened our doors to 19 students. With the focus in preparing them for the academic workloads, psychological pressures, and the challenges of relocating to unfamiliar environments of higher education, the Tertiary Education Preparation Programme - TEPP, was born. A chance for the student to re-write the National Senior Certificate examination in Maths, Physical Science and Life Sciences, with extracurricular activities as part of the academic programme.
BEGINNING of TECH
Not all students identified for TEPP showed strong academics, but rather a strong aptitude for practical skills. Pursuing the need for practical skills development, critical skills shortages in South Africa was identified and workshops were added as part of the educational home. With the focus to pursue careers involving hands-on work, the TECH programme was born, registering as a private Vocational Training Institution in 2017. We further expanded on our recreational facilities adding a swimming pool, soccer field, netball and tennis courts, allowing further personal growth and upliftment opportunities for the students.
