National Senior Certificate (NSC) Modules - Life Sciences
This module equips students with the skills and knowledge to understand the scientific study of living organisms, their processes, and their interactions with the environment. Through comprehensive training, key biological concepts—from the molecular level to complex ecosystems—will be covered in topics such as Biotechnology, Environmental Management, research fields like Microbiology, Genetics, or Zoology, and Education, all of which apply to real-world contexts. Students will develop critical thinking skills to evaluate scientific data and engage in meaningful debates on current biological issues. This foundation opens pathways for further studies in biotechnology, environmental management, research fields like microbiology, genetics, or zoology, and education, equipping them with the skills needed for various career opportunities in biological sciences, academia, and public health.
Programme Structure
Semester 1:
Foundations for Success
Foundations for Success is a 21-week program aimed at strengthening students' foundational knowledge in core NSC subjects, while fostering academic discipline, digital literacy, and promoting health and wellness. It includes key topics such as time management, goal setting, and career guidance, with workshops on digital tools, project management, and NBT preparation. Courses cover subjects like Mathematics, Physical Sciences, English and Computer Studies, as well as specialized topics like Coding & Robotics, SolidWorks, and Engineering Graphics and Design. Students benefit from mentorship, peer study groups, and academic and wellness support, with internal and NBT examinations for assessment. Community engagement and personal development are also emphasized.Semester 2:
Academic Mastery & Holistic Development
A 20-week program focused on achieving mastery in core subjects, developing advanced digital and technological skills, and preparing students for the transition to tertiary education. Key objectives include improving reading proficiency to university standards, providing career guidance, and fostering personal development through workshops on leadership, public speaking, and university readiness. Courses cover subjects like Mathematics, Physical Sciences, English and Computer Studies, alongside specialized topics like Coding & Robotics, SolidWorks, and Engineering Graphics and Design. Students take NSC and SolidWorks exams, with mentorship, peer study groups, and academic and wellness support available to enhance their growth.Outcome: Graduates of the programme will be well-prepared to enter tertiary institutions as competent students in their chosen fields of study. They will possess a strong foundation in academic knowledge and problem-solving abilities, meeting the rigorous requirements of national educational standards. This structured approach ensures that students receive a comprehensive education, balancing theoretical knowledge with practical skills, thereby preparing them for a smooth transition and successful academic journey in their respective degrees.

- NSC Matric (Gr12) within the past 2 (two) years, and
- a Minimum of 45% in relevant Module, and
- School Based Assessment (SBA) Mark,
- Younger than 22 Years of Age, and
- RSA ID or Passport with a study permit
